Sophrology in brief
Sophrology is a practical mind-body approach based on breathing, gentle movement, relaxation, body awareness and guided visualisation. It helps people become more aware of physical tension, emotional reactions and automatic stress patterns. Rather than trying to ignore discomfort, sophrology gives the person simple exercises to reconnect with the body, slow down mental overload and respond to pressure with more clarity.
This approach may be useful for people dealing with stres, emotional tension, performance pressure, difficulty relaxing, sleep-related tension or recurring worries. It can also complement broader support for endişe, tükenmişlik veya uyku sorunları, depending on the person’s needs and the practitioner’s training. Sophrology is usually gentle and adaptable, which makes it accessible to many adults, teenagers and, when properly adjusted, children.
A session may include breathing techniques, body scanning, simple movements, relaxation and visualisation exercises. The aim is to build practical tools that can be reused outside the session: before an important meeting, during a stressful period, after emotional tension, before sleep or when preparing for an exam, public speaking, childbirth, a performance or a medical procedure.
Sophrology can be used as a wellbeing practice or as part of a wider therapeutic process alongside approaches such as Farkındalık, Bilişsel davranışçı terapi veya Kabul ve Kararlılık Terapisi. It does not replace medical care, psychotherapy or emergency support when these are needed, but it can offer concrete tools for grounding, emotional regulation and daily stress recovery.
